The Jersey Shore and not Dubai?

Sea Isle City Realtor and Lazarus Team Leader - Ian Lazarus has a great new post on his ActiveRain blog.

Reuters is out with a new report on the state of real estate in Dubai.  According to the report, prices in Dubai are expected to continue to decline.  Here on the Jersey Shore in Cape May County, we are expecting prices to steady.  Unlike many international markets we continue to have an influx of yearly vacationers to Sea Isle City and the Jersey Shore.

Saying Farewell to the Golden Nugget | Cape May County Herald

Saying Farewell to the Golden Nugget | Cape May County Herald: "For the older member of the James family it was “just like those summers” on Hunt’s Pier all over again. That is, if you don’t count the temperatures that hit as low as 23 degrees and felt as low as 11.

The Golden Nugget, built in 1960 at the end of the former Hunt's Pier, has been out of commission since the 1990s, the Morey Organization held a public ceremony to mark the ride's end. It is slated to be taken down during a phased demolition.

“I remember riding the Nugget with my older brother. It was one of a kind,” said Thomas James. “It’s a shame my kids never got the chance to really experience it.”"

From AC Press - State has bigger plans for Strathmere beach-fill project

State has bigger plans for Strathmere beach-fill project: "UPPER TOWNSHIP - Strathmere is getting an $8 million beach fill, more than doubling the scope of the original project, the state said Wednesday.

The state Department of Environmental Protection will go out to bid in February on the project to pump sand onto Ludlam Island, the strand shared by Strathmere and Sea Isle City, spokeswoman Elaine Makatura said.

Makatura said the state identified more money for the project, which initially was estimated at about $3 million.

'The total estimate will be about $8 million,' she said.

The dredge will pump sand from Seaview Avenue south through Whale Beach.

'It's fantastic news for Upper Township. We've worked extremely diligently to be in a position to do this,' Mayor Richard Palombo said.

The township secured easements from dozens of property owners and is taking a few holdouts to court to seize the beachfront lots through eminent domain - all to satisfy the state DEP's demands to ensure public access to the beaches.

'I want to recognize the people in Strathmere who signed the easements and cooperated,' Palombo said. 'The DEP wasn't going to do this project unless that was in place.'

The mayor also credited Solicitor Dan Young and staff in the township Clerk's Office who prepared the reams of paperwork inv"

Stone Harbor New Jersey looking to go Solar

Originally Stone Harbor Going Solar from the Stone Harbor Real Estate Blog.

The Borough of Stone Harbor will be taking bids to install the first of many solar panels on a municipal building. The install will comprise upto 286 panels. The solar panels will be installed on the roof of the municipal building. Town officials hope the solar power will generate up to 60,000 kilowatts of electricity oer year.

Initial estimates place the cost of the installing solar powers on the roof of the 81st Street public works building between $300,000 and $400,000. The Press reports the borough is receiving a $158,000 rebate from the state of New Jersey.

Town officials hope the solar panels will pay for themselves in six to eight years. The town is hoping with success to expand the program. Some neighboring towns have already started the green energy conversion. They include West Cape May and Ocean City.
